ALVEOLAR CORTICOTOMY

This technique consists of a surgical intervention on the cortical bone surrounding the teeth that need to be moved.

The cutting of the tissue of the cortex of the bone generates an inflammatory phenomenon which accelerates the cellular "turnover" or bone cell renewal which allows the tooth to be moved.

This "turnover" state is maintained by taking close activation appointments with the orthodontist: every 10 days for 3 months. Orthodontic treatment lasts 6 to 9 months instead of 12 to 18 months.

The applications of this procedure include:

  • Need for fast orthodontic treatments in adults.
  • Preparation for orthodondic-surgical cases.
  • Axe straightening.
  • Gap closing.

A corticotomy can accelerate orthodontic processes and cut their usual duration in half.
